brunch time with the boy
(Charleston edition)
One of the things that D and I love sharing is food. He has a much more adventurous palate than I, but I'm learning. The last time we were in Charleston we were looking for a place to brunch with the family. I guess the plans fell through, but we never got the chance to explore brunch, Charleston style. So, during Thanksgiving break, we vowed to make up for the missed meal. We decided on Five Church on N. Market Street. Definitely the right choice.
The restaurant was literally a church! The inside is absolutely gorgeous; white lettering decorates the ceiling and the stain glass shines colorful light into the dining room.
D and I ate on the porch so that we could people watch and enjoy the perfect weather. The coffee display was spectacular, complete with jelly beans and chocolate desserts. Complementary beignets were brought to our table. The shrimp and grits were the perfect proportion. It was such a nice ending to the Thanksgiving break. Just us. Alone time to remember why we love one another. Alone time to reflect on what we are thankful for. Alone time to plan for the future.
I couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else. The tough times and the good ones. It's nice to have someone that you can always count on, no matter the kind of day you've had. I am so thankful for him. He taught me what it's like to be loved and how to express it in return. That boy has stolen my heart forever.

Here's to many more French toasts and bacon strips with my main squeeze!
